Tips and advice to save money using your Student ID
College students should have their student id with them at all times to save money. Movies local restaurants, shops and other establishments typically offer discounts to college students. College students should find out from upperclassmen or take a walk around town the first few weeks of school to find out where they can get discounts with a student id.
Student ID to Save Money on Movies
If you don't feel like seeing the movies your college or university is showing, and you must go to the movie theatre, you MUST bring your student ID. If you haven't noticed, movie theatre ticket prices are around $10 per person now. That is just too expensive for regular college students. Bringing you student id can help students save a few dollars, which can go a long way, especially if you go to the movie theatre more than once a semester. Tip: If you go to the movie theatre a lot, sign up for a rewards card, you can earn free tickets and popcorn.

Most schools have on campus concerts where they bring in bands, comedians, and entertainers. Having a student id allows students to receive significant discounted or free tickets these types of events. The bigger the school the bigger the venue. Some of the most popular bands in the world still tour and stop at college shows, so its a great way to see your favorite band or comedian and pay little or no money.

A student id can provide a free membership to the gym. Typically college gym's are free to all students currently enrolled in the school full time. Every student should take advantage of this, because it allows every student to be fit and healthy without spending money.

As an effort to keep out people who do not attend the university such as high school kids, thugs, random people, etc., some college parties require that students have a student id to get into the party.
College Freshman: Ditch the ID Necklace
At some schools, the college or university issues incoming freshmen with a student ID and a student ID holder, lanyard, necklace or whatever you want to call it. Keeping your id in a "holster" around your neck makes you stand out as a freshman to all. This usually is not cool, so take your student ID out and put it in your wallet or purse so you have it at all times.
