St. Patricks Day is on the 17th of March every year, and one of many college party themes, and is a huge day of partying for college students. Some students look forward to St. Patricks Day all year long, just waiting for the holiday where everyone drinks. All you have to do is dress in green and drink like the Irish all day long.
Green clothing and St. Patrick's Day T Shirts are pretty much a must when it comes to St. Patrick's Day. This can include T-Shirts, beads, for girls: face painting, eye shadow, whatever.
Even if you are not Irish, you should at least wear a St. Patrick's Day T Shirt and as much green as possible. Its always better if your T-Shirt has a St Patricks Day print or logo on it, and "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" shirts could pay off big time in a drunken college environment.
Wearing beads on St. Patrick's day is a way to show you are more than just dressing up because everyone else is, beads also tend to draw a lot of attention at drunken college parties. For some reason beads are like gold to drunken college students, so wear them and get a lot of attention (note: dont wear so many beads you look like Mr. T - creepy, just enough so you can give a bunch out).
If you are throwing a St. Patrick's Day party there are some things you should know about. The following provides information on St. Patty's day drinks, decorations, activities, and party games.
Anything green will do for St. Patricks Day: green plates, green cups, green napkins, green streamers, green balloons, you get the idea. Click on the St. Pat's Day Decorations image to left to find green hats, necklaces, cups and other types of St. Patrick's day party decorations.
On St. Patrick's Day some beer distributors sell kegs of green beer (the put food coloring in the keg). This makes for a extra festive St. Patrick's Day party. Be on the lookout for green beer to make your college party stand out from the rest.
On St. Patrick's Day anything green works. Jello shots (Jello mixed with alcohol such as vodka) are great to pass around at a party. They are cheap (use cheap vodka no one will know the difference) and you can make hundreds of them and pass them out during the party.
Guinness is a traditional Irish beer that is thick and dark (it looks almost black in a pint glass). Guinness is also used to make many different types of drinks such as a half and half (half Guinness, half harp) and Irish Car Bombs (see below)
An Irish Car Bomb is a beer cocktail and a standard drink on St. Patrick's Day. Irish Car bombs consist of 3 main ingredients: Guinness, Jameson Whiskey and Baileys Irish Cream. Drink setup: Fill a pint glass half way with Guinness and a shot glass filled with whiskey and Baileys Irish Cream, the shot glass is dropped into the pint of Guinness and the drink is chugged as fast as possible. Some things to note about the ingredients: They are expensive, so if you are broke you could substitute cheaper whiskey. Some bars have specials on Irish Car Bombs, but others charge full price, so make sure you find out the specials before you go broke. Some bars may charge up to $10 for an Irish Car Bomb, others may charge $3.
Get some different shades of green construction paper and cut out some shamrocks, tape to walls all over. Get green streamers (cheap) and stream across where party is (works well in college basement parties). Any official St. Patricks day signs or anything else is a bonus.
Drink until someone looks pretty, hookup. Try to accomplish this before you get so drunk you pass out or throw up. Welcome to St Patty's Day
Any standard drinking game will work on St. Patrick's Day, but drinking for no reason also works. Keg stands, funneling, beer pong, flip cup and other college drinking games usually all take place at a college St. Patrick's Day party. So make sure you have all the cups, pong balls, funnels, and kegs you need to party all day long.
