It’s your first day…

A.You are a seasoned college student at (Insert Chosen University here) and you strut to class about 5 minutes before the hour, knowing exactly where you are headed. Upon arriving to class, you talk with a few friends from last year, discuss the pros and cons of the professor and take a seat next to those old former faces.

B.You are a freshman or transfer student to (Insert Chosen University here) and you leave for class about 30 minutes early. You are as lost as can be (the crumbled map that screams “FRESHMAN” is no help) and circle the campus a few times before realizing that the building you were looking for is right in front of your face (personal experience…I’d rather not discuss it! Haha). You get to class and sit in a seat by yourself….or you get to class late and sit next to other fellow newbies in an awkward silence.

Both of those scenarios have an issue that needs to be addressed. My advice…

Sit next to (and TALK to) someone who looks inviting (or maybe just cute?!) on the first day of class. College is about making new friends and building relationships. Not to mention, when you sleep in by accident or your alarm clock conks out, you will be thankful to have a fellow classmate to call. On another note, if the classmate is cute, perhaps you should intentionally not set your alarm. Then you would have to meet up with said classmate to catch up on what you missed….Oh, what a burden!
