Dining Plan

Think long and hard about which dining plan you want to purchase. If you are a very health conscious individual, like myself, I would reach for the lower dining plan. You will probably be buying many of your own foods at the grocery store (veggies, fruits, cheese sticks, cereal, etc) and you will most likely not use your dining plan up as fast as you may think. Plus, at least at my school, you can always add more dining bucks to your account; but you cannot get a refund for unused dining bucks.
Then again, if you have parents who are willing to purchase whichever dining plan you think is needed, but will most likely not be sending much other money your way; that would be the case when I would snag a bigger dining plan and never look back.
Personally, I had the second smallest dining plan last year and had about $300 leftover. Thankfully, as long as you live on campus, the dining bucks carry over to the next semester. Therefore, this upcoming year, I have chosen to purchase the lowest dining plan possible. That way, I can still have access to the campus cuisine when needed for dinner, lunches on the go and what not. However, I can purchase the granola bars, coffee and cereal that I prefer; instead of choosing from the limited options provided on campus. If you are prepared, with little snack baggies in your backpack/purse, then a lower dining plan should be no problem!
