Campus Cuisine

Eating healthy strictly off of the campus dining plan CAN be done. And to see more, you can check out my food blog, Nutritious is Delicious. However, just for the heck of it, let’s do a little scenario of what a healthy day of eats might look like (This would be a typical day, where I am rushed and have run out of food in my dorm, so I am stuck relying soley on the campus’ options…)
7:00- Wake Up, Get Ready, Run By the Convenience Store type place in the lobby to grab a LUNA or CLIF bar, fruit and some coffee!
Sometime when I catch a break between 11:00 and 1:00- Grab a lunch that is portable enough to take to the library with me (Those “No Food Allowed” signs are just for show!
). I end up grabbing a sub sandwich…or if I have time to wait in the undoubtedly long line, I can enjoy a Boar’s Head Turkey/Provolone Sandwich on Whole Wheat Bread.
After more classes, group meetings, a plausible trip to the gym, etc; it’s time for dinner and I meet up with my friends at a popular dining hall. The options that I generally choose are black bean tacos, vegetable pizza, salad (hard-boiled egg, vegetables, sunflower seeds, etc to top it off), vegetable stir fry or vegetable pasta.
Then I get back to my dorm to start on my homework and right before heading to the elevator, I stop by the convenience store to grab some little boxes of cereal to fuel me through the night.
