Political Science (ZZZzzzz) was my last class of the day, this fine FRIDAY afternoon, and I think only about 45 of the 200-300 students were present and accounted for.

Now, I don't blame them because this a core curriculum course, so many of them (including myself) are probably just not interested. However, I am generally not one to skip class just because (not enough of a rebel, I guess...;)), so I was one of the 45 who actually showed up to hear our new (for this year...and therefore, slightly nervous) professor talk about Energy and Alternative Fuels, etc.

He proclaimed during the last class that "the notes for the remainder of the course would be posted online, so we could print them out and use them as a guide while we are taking notes in class". Now, think about this for just a second. First of all, I have only had one professor ever post notes online and I think that there is one main reason why. See, the second that my professor said, "the notes for the remainder of the course would be posted online", the rest of his statement was considered null and void to everyone in the class except for about 45 individuals.

It's a fact of life and a decision each professor must make. He acted so surprised  when the lecture hall was fairly empty today...live and learn, I guess! What's your prognosis? Do your professors put any notes online? Would you still go to the class if they did? I may have to channel my inner rebel and skip class on monday, so that I can pack up the car and head to the airport without being rushed...

I have 3 tests today.
You do too?
Good, I’m not alone! ;)

One of my tests is over the book, The Jungle, which was not very interesting to me (to say the least), so I’m not sure how much of it I retained and how much of it...I didn’t! The fact that I zoomed through the last 5 chapters last night, may or may not have added to my faint understanding of what’s going on. Then again, since the last five chapters were just a propaganda ploy anyways, I should have just used that time to get some extra ZZZ’s.

Another one of my tests is over elimination and substitution reactions. Those two prior words are LOADED, just so you know! Then again, it’s chemistry, so I better knock it out of the ball park, right?

My last test is over Calculus (integration, derivatives…all of that fun stuff!), which is always a challenge because when you walk out of a Calculus test, you can never be too sure if you did well or not. What if that negative was really supposed to be a positive? Minus 5 points.

So, my day is looking up already, no? haha Well, I guess it’s time to face the music. The sooner that I get this day over with, the sooner that Friday will be here. And the soon that Friday is here, the closer I am to MONDAY…when I head home to see my family and my little rascals (aka 2 miniature schnauzers!). Maybe my enthusiasm will help me to get through today? One can only hope!

Rory: We're fondue purists, Grandma.
Lorelai: Yea we dip old school.
Emily: The government says you should have nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
Lorelai: Imperialist propaganda.
Rory: Noam Chomsky would agree.
Lorelai: I bet Noam doesn't dip fruit.

Today’s Tasty Tuesday is a tribute to an establishment where one of my really great friends works…oh, and they happen to have some very YUMMY (and pretty) treats up for grabs. I am talking about Edible Arrangements.

Now, listen up (especially you guys out there! I know that guys can always use an extra piece of advice…I have a brother! ;)). Girls love flowers…of course we do. However, as beautiful as they are, wouldn’t it be more special (and more delicious) if you were to surprise that special someone with an edible bouquet sometime? They even sell little boxes of their dipped fruit for very reasonable prices ($25 for a small box with 15 of their fruit truffles? I wouldn’t turn it down!). Not to mention, these also make for great birthday presents…or just a great way to mix it up! I would recommend the chocolate covered bananas (I dip old school, too!). See my mouthwatering experience HERE!

Next Monday at this time, I will be psyched out of my mind…and flying off into the (hopefully) bright blue sky! However, there is a whole week before then, so take a seat and stay a while! I will still be blogging throughout my vacation…you can’t get rid of me that easily! :p This week will be our second to last Chemistry lab; although, I can’t get too excited because next year, I will have 3-three hour labs! Yea, I like Chemistry…no need to call a doctor, I’m fine! What’s your favorite subject? See if you were to say English, I would have to call a doctor on you! That’s the beauty of this world that we live in… you can pursue your interests and construct your dreams in a way that best fits your personality!

I was talking to a fellow food science major and she was contemplating about how she would like to switch her major to nutritional sciences. However, she said she probably wouldn’t because everyone was making such a big deal out of it and she didn’t want to cause a problem. Folks, you better be passionate about what you are majoring in because your degree will most likely determine what you do with the rest of your life. If you have decided that your initial (or maybe even 2nd or 3rd…) major decision is not for you, stand up and make a change. You should want to go to class (okay, maybe not the core curriculum classes like History and whatnot…unless History is your thing, of course! Now this is getting confusing…). I have an 8AM chemistry class every MWF and I stroll in with a mug of coffee in hand and the desire to learn. What classes are you taking right now? Are you happy to go to them or do you just skip out?!

On another note…Did your football team win this weekend? Oh, I’m sorry, are you too distracted by your studies for any extracurricular activities? Don’t let me disturb you! ;)

Hey hey hey! Can you tell I am excited that it is finally friday? Because I am! I am also excited about the fact that I will not have to do my speech until next friday! I am not excited about the homework that awaits me; but come what may, right?

I was talking with a few of my classmates the other day and we came to somewhat of a consensus:
Have you ever had to read a book and you are thinking to yourself, "Oh, I'll just use spark notes"? Well, that is an okay idea and (to tell you the truth), I am on sparknotes anytime that I have an assigned reading in hand. HOWEVER, I do not use sparknotes as my only resource. If used as a SUPPLEMENT to the actual book, it can be quite helpful to refresh your mind on what you read a couple days (or weeks) ago and help point out key ideas or aid in your understanding. Please don't use sparknotes as your only resource; you will miss out on a bunch of stuff. It might have worked for you in high school; but it shouldn't work for you in college. Unless, of course, you wait until the day before your assignment is due or the test is to be given...then, I guess it's your only option! You rebel!

I am in the middle of reviewing a pretty great product and I will be celebrating my 100th birthday...I mean... post, by giving it away to one of YOU! Fun Stuff, right? My "birthday" is on Wednesday...Don't miss out!

Scholarship Interview

At 11:00, I will be in a scholarship interview. I love to joke around on here and write nonsensical posts...

At 11:00, I will be in a scholarship interview. I love to joke around on here and write nonsensical posts or posts that tell a funny story; but, in the end, we are college students and that entails some hard core work and determination. Obtaining scholarships is not always cut and dry, or as easy as simply exploiting your stellar writing skills. As you move further on in your education and pursue scholarships that target a narrower audience, interviews become a routine aspect of the application process.

I have been to one scholarship interview before and, although I did not win that scholarship, I am truly blessed to have had that opportunity and exposure. So, that is the mindset that I will approach this and all future scholarship interviews with. While the money would be a great thing and I would appreciate their financial support as I continue to develop my knowledge and skills throughout the coming years (lessening the financial burden that is upon my shoulders…aka debt!), I need to remember that “win or lose”, this is an opportunity to make myself a well-rounded individual and to prepare me for future scholarship interviews. Not to mention, if you approach the occasion in this manner, you are more likely to be less stressed, more relaxed and less likely to forget things (such as “Why did you choose your major?”…Trust me, it happens!).

Nevertheless, I would encourage you to google scholarship interview questions (don’t use google as a verb during your interview) and click on one of the many links that pop up, to familiarize yourself with some general questions and get into the correct mindset. However, you can never truly know what to expect. During my first scholarship interview, I was asked “What is your favorite vacation memory?”…talk about catching someone off guard!

I totally forgot about Tasty Tuesday yesterday. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Right?! It’s officially the middle of the week…what a bitter sweet time. You’re half way there, which means you still have half way to go. Woot?! Have you ever had dark chocolate? It’s phenomenal…totally blows regular chocolate out of the water. That was random. Unless you are camping out in my jungle of a mind...then it makes perfect sense. See, I had some dark chocolate last night and it made my political science studying slightly more interesting. Oh alright, the only interesting part was the chocolate.

This is my 95th post! Yep, I am getting dangerously close to 100 and by next Wednesday I will be there…it’s like winning a marathon or the golden globe awards…I may have to write up a little speech ;) (...since, I am practically a pro by now! Actually, I have a speech to give on Friday. I am going to be persuading my class; but what will I be persuading them to do? Well, you will just have to wait and see..). After I give my speech and accept my award (wait, there's no award?!), there WILL be a celebration! Don't miss it!

Well, that’s a little overview of the week(s) to come on college tips. I’d give you an overview of the week(s) to come as far as school goes, but I’d be here all day and miss out on some exciting lectures. Wouldn’t want that…

This post has been very scatter brained…which pretty much fits with how I feel right now (I just typed write…). Thanksgiving break starts in 13 days, yet I have no sight of it in my near future…

Lorelai: College is loud!
Rory: Yes, it's part of our training. It's right up there with the bad food, the sleep deprivation, and how to hold your own hair while throwing up.

Any other Gilmore Girl fans out there? Come on out…the weather’s fine! ;) Heck, even my macho brother, who wouldn’t touch any article of clothing that could somewhat be considered pink, says it isn’t half bad (although, that was in passing…He’s never actually watched a whole episode. He did acknowledge the goodness though! Haha). No, really, it’s my favorite show and I am known to quote it randomly throughout the day…I know you have a hidden obsession. Don’t lie to me!

Anyways, back to the quote. Yes, “College is loud”; very loud in fact. One of the roomies in the suite next door (let’s call him Petey) exploits this fact very well. Petey has (what my roommates and I call it) "raves" with his music so loud that I don’t know how he ever gets anything done. It’s always some form of deafening rap music that I only recognize because I grew up around my tough stuff (or so he thinks! ;)) brother. Thankfully, I live in the room furthest from big Petey. I just feel bad for my roomie who shares a wall with the child…

Last night, I was making a typical college dinner (Hello, PB&J) and Petey’s music came streaming through the walls (okay, so streaming makes it sound like a soft, subtle noise…let’s try “tearing through the walls”). Immediately, I burst out laughing and yelled “Big Petey is listening to Country music”. You guys, this was hilarious. Just imagine a macho guy who thinks he’s hott stuff listening to subtle country music when his usual suspect is rap. Maybe he broke up with his girlfriend and needed the straightforward storylines that country brings. I don’t know, but it made my night…the mound of homework and the multiple page to-do list, on the other hand, didn’t.

P.s. I switched up the font! Just keeping things interesting...

I usually post at 7:30AM, before I head off to my 8AM Chemistry class. However, this morning I decided to study for a Chemistry Quiz instead and boy am I glad that I did because:

1. I think I did well on said quiz.

2. I now have a very funny story to tell you. Well, funny in your eyes...

So, my speech class was cancelled today. Hoorah! Therefore, after my Chemistry class, I headed to the library to get a few things accomplished with this free hour of time (blogging included). I walk into the library with my empty coffee mug in hand and head to the bathroom to clean my mug out. As I am walking out of the bathroom, I grab the Luna Chocolate Peppermint Stick Bar that I stashed in my bag last night and attempt to open the packaging. However, the packaging is very tough to get open...I yank and pull and next thing I know, my Luna bar (yep! The whole thing...) is flying out of the wrapper and onto the floor. :( haha It was sad because I am HUNGARIAN at the moment; but it was also quite hysterical! I picked up my poor little Luna off the ground and reluctantly disposed of it in the trashcan. And now, I am going to finish the few things that I need to get done on the computer and run over to the Student Union to get another bar before my 10AM class!
I better hurry...

Tuesday afternoon, I spent 2.5 hours on Calculus and only completed about 2/3 of the homework. I get to class on Wednesday and figure out that I was doing about half of it all wrong.

Tuesday night I prepared for a speech (somewhat last minute) and stayed up a tad too late doing so. I was scheduled to give my speech on Wednesday. I was the cut-off point and will start first thing Monday morning. I could have gotten those much needed hours of beauty sleep after all.

Wednesday, I walked to Chem Lab after enduring 5 note intensive lectures beforehand. Our lab took 2.5 hours. I’m still tired. I spilt a chemical on my hand and asked my TA if it was okay and he says “NO”. I run to the sink…

These are just a few of my “fmylife” stories this week…

It’s been about two months or so since I last visited the famous site, www.fmylife.com; partially because that website is addicting for no apparent reason (I guess anything that isn’t homework is addicting) and partially because if I ever have an “fmylife” type story to tell, it generally just makes it to my blog. However, there is some funny stuff on that site and it can help to remind you that you’re not the only one having a bad day!

Here’s a funny one that I pulled from the site:
Today, I was driving to work. I saw a cute boy in the car next to me. To try and look cool, I pretended I was talking on my cell phone. I got pulled over and got a ticket for using my cell phone while driving. FML

GOOD MORNING! That is SO an oxymoron this morning! I have a speech, a lab, a meeting at 7PM and 5 classes. This is not a good morning. However, I may attempt to make it better with a Luna Bar and a French Vanilla Dorm-made Latte.

That is…until my chemistry class is over and I am making my way to speech class where I will be the fourth speaker to make a fool of myself…err…give a speech. Then again, I will be doing a manuscript speech (you can have the speech in front of you; but must still be very familiar with it and able to look at the audience and what not) AND it is a tribute to my strong, knowledgeable and loving cousin (Those are my three main points, in case you missed that.). So, I’m not all that nervous.

But, I think the majority of people get some sort of butterflies (or maybe yours are more like angry dogs biting at your stomach) whenever we have to address an audience …oh, and get graded on it!

I hope you all have a fabulous Wednesday and, just remember…no matter what goes on today, tomorrow will come. Tomorrow will come and my speech and lab will be a thing of a past. The books, papers and water bottles that crowd my room because of my busy life full of studying (which doesn’t leave time for much else) will still be here, however. Oh Bother. (I love Pooh Bear!).

The product that I bring to you today has really been impacting my life in the past few days. A food product impacted your life? Yes, it was that delicious…my mouth won’t stop thanking me. I am talking about Penny’s Low Fat Desserts Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie. It may be a mouthful to say; but it is an even more delicious mouthful to TASTE!

Oh buddy…pop it into the toaster for a round or two, let it set to cool for a minute and bite in. It maintains this fresh from the oven profile with the firm edges, super soft and warm interior and hunks of chocolate and peanut butter goodness. Oh yea, and it’ll only set you back 150 calories and 3g of fat…just throwin’ that out there!

However, if you are a bit more daring, you can take this cookie to the next level, like I did HERE when I made the best sandwich EVER. Try it! :D

To make your Tuesday even better…I am hosting a giveaway for Penny’s treats on my blog, Nutritious is Delicious, so come on over and get in on this goodness! Can’t wait until the contest is over to try these luscious treats? I don’t blame ya…I’m still here to help you out! Type “EWTEX” into the place where it says “Enter Special Code” and 10% of your order total will disappear.

MMM…I may have to go have another one right now!

*_It’s just another manic Monday…_*

That couldn’t be more true….right? There are papers and tests and quizzes and labs and…it just never stops....

It’s just another manic Monday…

That couldn’t be more true….right? There are papers and tests and quizzes and labs and…it just never stops. However, that’s what we signed up for, right?

So… how was everyone’s weekend? Did you have fun and stay safe? My friends and I ended up watching the original movie, Halloween, which I had never seen before. It was pretty good. However, if I had been back at home, in my neighborhood, I would have been ALL over passing out candy. Some of the older kids, that don’t dress up, kind of ruin the fun; BUT, when those cute little pumpkins and princesses come to the door saying “Trick or Treat” (Remember those days?! Fun times!), it makes it all worth it! :D

Plus, my family generally shuts out the lights after a while and hits up a restaurant…who doesn’t like going out with your fam (especially when daddio's paying ;))? By the way, I have 21 days left until I will be setting home for turkey lurkey day. I am quite pumped and plan on making the most of these next 21 days, so that I can enjoy Thanksgiving (and all that I have to be thankful for) to the fullest. How are you going to make the most of your upcoming month before the Thanksgiving holiday?
