College Drinking and Heart Problems

I found this article: College Drinking and Heart Problems - Fit Nation - TIME where it mentions drinking could cause increase risk of cardiovascular problems.

They classify "heavy drinking" as "...three or more alcoholic drinks at least three days a week or at least five drinks two days of the week."

Well if that is true, I was a extremely heavy drinker throughout college, because I used to drink at least 10 alcoholic drinks 3 days a week in college (Thrusday, Friday and Saturday). A buddy and I used to split a case of beer between the two of us, and we always finished it.

I would like to think my friends and I are not the only people who consumed this much alcohol.

i guess I'm also classified as a heavy drinker cuz when I went to UT Austin, I drank about 2-3 beers on Fridays, Sat. and sundays.

does it just have to do with beer or does it also include hard alcohol. i guess you would consider my friends heavy drinkers with a handle of vodka and 4 cases in a night between 10 guys

Excessive drinking at college party is not a good idea, planning a party without drinks is almost impossible at college level, but excessive use of hard drink may spoil the party enjoyment.
