Fraternities are a tough organization to run efficiently. There are some tips below that should always be followed. Fraternities across the country are getting shut down because of poor choices. Follow these tips to help keep your fraternity on campus.
Friends Don't Let Friends Drink and Wear Fraternity Letters
Never wear or let any of your brothers wear fraternity letters while drinking. This is a no brainer but to elaborate: if someone in your organization gets caught drinking or doing stupid its bad enough, but if they are caught doing the same thing with letters on, it could be huge. If someone takes a picture or sees the letters, all they are going to remember is some kid wearing "XXX" letters did that. Not good when you are trying to keep your image positive. One bad event like this could squash the thousands of hours of community service and thousands of dollars you raised for a charity.
Never Videotape or Take Pictures at Fraternity Events
Unless you are doing community service, raising money for a charity, or something else your grandmother would like to see, DO NOT video tape or take pictures of it. There are some events that a fraternity member will go through that are not for public eyes. Parties also should never be videotaped or photographed. With new technology these days, students can videotape with their cell phones, so make sure all your brothers are on the lookout for anyone recording anything going on at your house. Students could use the video to report anything that seems out of the ordinary or something that may of happened that could be taken out of context. Several fraternities have been closed down permanently for video taping events. Don't let it be your organization.
Make your fraternity house a place girls want to come to
Make sure your fraternity house is always clean and odor free. Your fraternity house directly reflects the members of the organization and its better girls think you are neat freaks than sloppy frat guys. Provide stuff that girls would like to do when they come over, convert a beer pong table to a flip cup table so girls can get involved in the drinking games. Always have other alcohol besides just beer, some girls prefer to drink wine, a few boxes of wine could change the amount of girls that hang around throughout the night. Be respectful to girls, say hello, nice to meet you, make sure your brothers are doing the same. You don't have to bow down to them, just respect them and be friendly. Make sure you and your bothers talk to them when they come over (they are usually there to meet guys like you). The better girls are treated the more comfortable they will be, and they will tell other girls you guys are gentlemen, which could help get more girls to come to your parties.
